Each class has an experienced Co-teaching team, comprising one Western and one Chinese teacher, who collaboratively plan for the learning needs of individual children, and readily respond to and extend their interests using both languages.

In these formative years, we focus on building strong and positive reciprocal relationships with all children, encouraging their natural curiosity to explore the world around them by providing a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment. This is critical for both their cognitive and social-emotional development, and enables them to feel confident in their own identity, language and culture, while beginning to appreciate differences and diversity. It is upon this solid foundation that each child’s future academic success and personal well-being are built, allowing them to thrive in a globalized world.

Through an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach and the expert guidance by Co-teaching teams within Learning Communities, we foster various aspects of global competency, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the 21st century.

Students are encouraged to individually and collaboratively engage with our enhanced YCIS international curriculum, which takes elements from the National Curriculum for England, our own Chinese Language and Culture Programmes, and Character Education. Students develop bilingual proficiency, multicultural awareness, leadership and teamwork skills, and are empowered to take responsibility for their own learning and tackle real world problems.

The secondary education programme takes a holistic approach to setting students up for academic and personal success at university and beyond. The innovative Learning Communities approach continues from Primary to Secondary, culminating in the IGCSE and IB Diploma programmes, capping the YCIS through-train education.

Our curriculum is further enhanced through a wide range of co-curricular activities and enrichment programmes, such as World Classroom and China Classroom, and students are encouraged to participate in a variety of clubs, sports and athletic competitions. Most importantly, students gain a deep understanding of and respect for cultural diversity, keen awareness of global issues, and develop a lifelong commitment to meeting the challenges of their generation. This character formation is critical to their personal development, especially when embarking upon universities and careers internationally.

YCCECE is offering Yew Chung’s first flagship Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (BEdECE) programme. The state-of-the-art campus is located in Tin Wan, Aberdeen with facilities that benefit local families, ECE professionals, and the wider community.
