Our Artist-in-Residence programme allows our students to observe and interact with various contemporary professional artists on campus. Students also have the chance to learn about the dynamic art scene locally and worldwide, working directly with professionals on various projects, and attending master classes.
Music is likewise a hallmark of the YCIS education, and all children across our schools begin learning the violin at the age of four, which lays a solid foundation for their later development, both musically and cognitively. Students also have the unique opportunity to take individual instrumental or vocal lessons during school hours, and are encouraged to join choirs, orchestras, and participate in annual musical productions, which further develop their talent and teamwork skills.
In our Scientist-in-Residence programme, learners will participate in hands-on activities and experimentation, led by professional scientists. Students will inquire, observe, evaluate and discover through scientific methods, which are applied to real world issues both locally and globally. We aim to excite and empower both girls and boys to pursue the sciences, and explore the world around them with integrity and responsibility.
Character formation is central to the Yew Chung education, and students develop a strong moral compass through both curricular and pastoral programmes. Whether through Character Education lessons, Christian faith-based assemblies or other activities, we help shape students’ view of the world and their place within it.

Seeds of Hope is the collective compassion and charity expression of all schools across our network. We partner with local and overseas non-profit organisations to bring educational opportunities to disadvantaged children in mainland China and abroad.

The World Classroom programme is designed to enable students to develop their awareness and understanding of other cultures, encourage critical thinking and open-mindedness, so that they become true global citizens with a commitment to serving family, society and the wider humanity. Students travel to all corners of the globe, from Tanzania and India to Russia and Greece, and enjoy once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to learn about different peoples and cultures.

Students have unique opportunities to visit some of China’s most interesting places from Shanxi to Beijing, allowing them to explore the country in the most exciting way. Each trip is filled with elements of adventure, exploration, challenge and community service, and focuses on a different facet of the Chinese Studies programme.
